EIP project "Effizienz-Check" (Efficiency Check)

The aim of the project "Effizienz-Check" (Efficiency Check) is to develop a WEB application for dairy farmers to make economic analyses of their own herds and to find ways to improve health and efficiency on their farm.

Self-explanatry illustrations are very importent for a analysing tool for practial use.

As a result of visualization the linkage between management, housing conditions, animal health and profitability farmers will call higher attention to animal welfare and health. Only healthy cows that feel comfortable within their housing are able to use their full capability for milk production.

The WEB application will be accessible for farmers and their vets and advisors free of charge. The tool can also be used to predict the impact of investments in better housing conditions or health monitoring on profitability of milk production. So new ways for better advisory services and collaboration between this three target groups can be found.

Our tool find place in the already established "RDV-Portal" (WEB-Portal for farmers and vets in Austria with direct connection to the transnational database for data recording and estimation of breeding values) to provide a well-known user interface and to avoid unneeded repeated data input.

The project "Effizienz-Check" (Efficiency Check) is a supported by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMLFUW). The project partnership consists of the Association of Austrian Cattle Breeders (ZAR, lead partner), the Chamber of Agriculture in Upper Austria (LK OÖ), the Styrian Animal Health Service (TGD Stmk.), two companies called "LKV Austria Qualitätsmanagement GmbH" and "ZuchtData EDV Dienstleistungen GmbH", farmers, vets and staff members of provincial recording associations.
